Beginners Wirework

 

 

The Beginners Wirework course is for the absolute beginner, and will be right for you if you have never done any wirework before. This course focuses on the very basics to get you started with wirework. During this one day course, you will be introduced to the tools, materials and techniques to produce a rosary link necklace and a pair of simple drop earrings, using copper wire and semi-precious gemstones.

As with all of our courses, we start the day with coffee and introductions, where you will also have the opportunity to have a look at our display of handcrafted jewellery, and jewellery kits that you can purchase on the day.
The course begins with an introduction to copper wire, its properties and how to choose the correct gauge for your projects. After this, we will look at the toolkit that we will be using and discuss each tool, how it is used most effectively to produce the best results and to protect your hands.

We will then go through the tutorial for making a simple pair of drop earrings. After this you will learn the technique of rosary linking semi-precious beads with copper wire to produce a rosary link necklace including making basic copper chain and finishing off the piece with a hook clasp. Also, you will learn more about the semi-precious stones used in your project.

At the end of the course, you will have the knowledge and skills to make fully handcrafted bracelets and necklaces in rosary link chain and basic chain link styles You will also be able to make a pair of simple drop earrings with handcrafted ear wires.

In addition, there will be wirework kits and handcrafted jewellery to buy, and we will also be holding a free draw to win a piece of jewellery made by Wire and Gemstone Ltd.
